Government Issue

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Government Issue was an American hardcore punk band from Washington, D.C. active from 1980 to 1989. The band experienced many changes in membership during its nine-year existence, with singer John Stabb as the only consistent member in an ever-fluctuating lineup that at various times... Read More

  • Katy Perry Is Nearly Divorced, Releasing 3 N ..
Katy Perry's camp is working valiantly to keep fans focused on the singer's music rather than her personal life. Late last night, the AP reported that her divorce from Russell Brand has been settled in record-breaking time (they announced the split on December 30 — only six weeks ago) and both stars will be legally single as of July 14. The terms of the divide are confidential, but TMZ reports Brand did not pursue the couple's "community property," meaning he didn't lay claim to any of the millions his soon-to-be ex-wife made selling Teenage Dream albums. Katheryn ...

  • Brief Bits Of New Stuff In International Tra ..
If you still want more after a blitzkrieg of movie trailers this week thanks to the Gisele Bundchen M.I.A. Bowl and Sony's big unspooling of the latest "The Amazing Spider-Man" trailer, well, there's even more to satisfy your fix. Sort of. An international trailer for "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" has arrived and yes, it still looks like the best worst thing ever that we're totally going to watch for the sword fighting on mountains. Anyway, it's mostly stuff you've seen before with enough new footage and scenes to make it interesting. Essentially, if ...

  • Diabolic – Mission Statement [Music]
Here is the first single off Diabolic's own label (War Horse Records) titled "Mission Statement". Produced by C-Lance and DJ G.I Joe, Diabolic is given a platform to murder a track both stylistically and verbally. News has also reached Hip-Hop Kings that Diabolic will be releasing his upcoming album "Fightin Words" which will be available later in 2012.

  • New Images From 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation,' 'Pr ..
Now that we've all had a chance to recover from the excitement of either a) some of the awesome Super Bowl spots or b) a pretty thrilling Super Bowl (depending on your relative levels of interest) it's time to check out something a little more sedate -- still images. First up is an image from "G.I Joe: Retaliation", which features The Rock, Bruce Willis and Adrianne Palicki standing around a table looking at some maps at stuff. If the image serves to highlight anything it's that Bruce should not stand next to The Rock if he wants ...

  • Noel Gallagher: People always drift to the r ..
Noel Gallagher pops up in the Mail On Sunday today, giving an interview that will probably excite Mail On Sunday readers : 'It was all better under Thatcher': Noel Gallagher on Britain's glory days, turning his back on drugs and the end of Oasis Mail readers - who probably believe that Gallagher is some sort of role model to young people - will dance with delight; they might even see this as some sort of rock capitulation. Instead, it's a very rich man sounding like a very rich man. There was a slim hope that he was just making a misguided ...

Hunger Games This is the first of two Super Bowl movie trailers (along with an Avengers trailers that shows us carnage and the faces of all of the protagonists) that came out this week. This trailer amplifies the emotion of the first theatrical trailer. Instead of showing us Effie’s (Elizabeth Banks) bubbly personality, we see [...]

  • T.G.I.Mixtape 145
The Groundhog saw its shadow, but we're not worried about the cold ruining our selection of tuneage. When we say "mixtape," this time we really mean it-- a quixotic collection of songs from all ends of the new musical spectrum. Think of it as the Party Mix of tune collections, some crunchy, some cheesy, and all delicious.

  • The Rock Quotes Jay-Z In Horrible/Awesome Su ..
"Whatever deity may guide my life/Dear Lord/Don't let me die tonight" -- Jay-Z/R. Kelly, "Don't Let Me Die" Yeah, okay. Invoking Jay-Z to bring some coolness factor to your movie/trailer is kind of cheap, but hell, it also works. The Super Bowl spot for "G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation" has arrived it has caused acrimony within the Playlist offices. Some are scoffing the movie looks completely dumb. While offers will concede that point but also add that sword-fighting on mountains and motorbikes that turn into bombs and Bruce Willis saying "Call me Joe" are all ...

Dennis Quaid is as talented as he is willing to tackle of variety of films. From big special effects blockbusters (“G.I. Joe: The Rise Of The Cobra”) to acclaimed dramas (“Far From Heaven,” “Traffic”) to carefully pitched dramedies (“In Good Company”), he’s shown a knack for moving skillfully from project to project, whatever it may be. 2012 finds Quaid on the slopes of the Sundance Film Festival where his latest effort “The Words” has made its world premiere. The film, a long-developing dream project from writer/directors Lee Sternthal and Brian Klugman, finds audiences traversing three intersecting narratives ...

We're not closing in on any holidays (aside from Groundhog's Day), and the seasons in New York City keep changing, so this week has been sort of a blahhhhhh of things. Nevertheless, it's been a great one for new tunes-- we've discovered our 2012 soulmate (the new Cloud Nothings LP) as well as some other awesome tuneage we've been terribly excited to share with you. It's the mixtape, now with less saturated fat and that same great taste.
