Andrew W.K., H ..For an LP to merit the sort of celebratory show (or in some cases world bloody tour) during which it is reproduced in its entirety, however many years down the line, it's going to have to be something fairly seminal, right? Devo's Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo may be considered as such and indeed was played out in full almost three years ago at this very venue. Isotroph – ColoursEver since I found Isotroph a coupla months back, I’ve been keeping up to date with his releases pretty closely. If you aint familiar with Isotroph’s deep dubsteppy techno style, then have a read of the earlier post here. This new track just came out literally 10 minutes ago, it’s a preview. It’s quite unlike everything I’ve heard so far, which tend to be on the darker, edgier side of things. This one’s more chilled, and dare I say it, “happier”. It's a crime that we ever let it go- Late to another cracking party. Weep. I have to admit that I rather lost track of Film School after their (rather brilliant) self-titled debut album was released back in early 2006 on the Beggars Banquet label. However, thanks to a wee bit of, erm, last.fm stalking, I am now catching up in a somewhat furious manner. 'Fission', their latest long-player release, came out in August 2010 on the Hi Speed Soul label and it's a stunning album, from beginning to end. The sound is coherent but also full of surprises, at times sounding like early Lush ('Sunny Day ...And Before The First Kiss10 February 2011

Music: Music Review: Film School: Fission ..The first track on Film School’s Fission , “Heart Full Of Pentagons,” is a blandly pleasant mix of lush indie-rock, cooed vocals, and what could pass for a pre-fab Apple-loop beat. It’s hard to imagine someone either unabashedly loving or hating the song: As on the band's post-rock debut, Brilliant Career (which featured Scott Kannberg of Pavement), or 2007’s Jesus & Mary Chain-leaning Hideout , Fission skillfully, un-showily incorporates a number of tasteful indie-rock tropes without ever putting enough English on any of them to sound distinctive.
