Records by his influential band, The Gun Club, were released locally and sold healthily, particularly debut Fire of Love , belying the band’s relative-obscurity overseas. The likes of Nick Cave, Mick Harvey and Tex Perkins will appear on a new compilation of previously unreleased works by Jeffrey Lee Pierce. The Gun Club frontman died from a brain hemorrhage in 1996, but material – mostly unfinished and recorded on cassette – had recently been unearthed by Pierce’s latter day collaborator Cypress Grove while clearing out his loft.
