News: Triple J Reveals ‘Second’ Hottest 100 ..In the lead-up to triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown on Australia Day, eventual list topper Gotye revealed how he’d like to see Godley & Creme-inspired album track ‘State of The Art’ make the cut. It didn’t, of course, but we can now reveal how close it actually came thanks to a list of the Hottest 100 also-rans (picks 101-200) published by triple j today. Included among the selections of the “second” Hottest 100 are hotly tipped tracks by Oh Mercy (‘Stay Please Stay’), The Middle East (‘Land Of The Bloody Unknown’), Cut Copy (‘Need You Now’), Loon Lake ...Mess and Noise8 February 2012

Jezabels big say JoeThe Jezabels are likely to make “serious waves” on the international scene, at least according to Eskimo Joe. Guitarist Stuart MacLeod took to his blog after watching The Jezabels at the Caloundra Music Festival recently, saying he believes the Sydney-based band have a shot at cracking the overseas market. “It was the first time we’ve had the pleasure of seeing The Jezabels play live, and they didn’t disappoint,” he said. The Sword: The Sword Hire New Drummer, Revea ..We have some great news for fans of the Sword who have been down in the dumps since the band's former drummer, Trivett Wingo, left the band last year. The Austin, Texas metal outfit announced that they have officially added Santiago “Jimmy” Vela III to fill the hole left by Wingo. They also wanted to thank Kevin Fender, who has been drumming for the Sword since Wingo's departure. 2011 ARIA nominationsThe nominations for the 25th ARIA Awards have been announced with Boy and Bear, Gotye and Drapht scoring seven nominations apiece. Even though Gotye's album Making Mirrors missed the cutoff date for submission, Australia's favourite Belgian has scored four nominations for his single 'Somebody That I Used To Know', which has already won three ARIA Artisan awards for Best Video, Engineer Of The Year, and Producer of The Year.
