  • LISTEN: Enola Fall ‘Lions’ & ‘I Am An Aerial ..
It has to be hard to be in a band from Tasmania. Not only in a practical sense – hey, planes aren’t cheap, touring must be a bitch – but also because people tend to think you’re weird. Talk to anyone outside of Tasmania and you’ll generally get the same response – jokes about two [...]

  • The Dead Leaves / Enola Fall / The Otchkies ..
The Joynt - Fri Mar 9 The bohemian hipsters of The Otchkies seem perfectly at home in the unpretentious stylings of The Joynt. Despite attracting a more-than-modest crowd the relaxed stoner persona they adopt isn’t very engaging, and as a result the performance is mostly unmoving. Fusing a quiet country twang to more in-your-face rock riffs and screeching vocal outbursts, their resemblance to early Doors (think Soul Kitchen) is uncanny. That said, The Otchkies deliver a solid set. It’s disappo ...

Lincoln LeFevre – ‘Miami’ (mp3) Forgive me people who take music blogs seriously, for I have sinned and will sin again. I saw him play a great solo acoustic [...]

  • Enola Fall ‘Andromeda’
I saw Tasmanian band Fall">Enola Fall open for The Jezabels more than a year ago. They played a really enjoyable set full of keyboard-driven rock music, structured around lead singer Joe Nuttall's brilliant falsetto. The thing that really struck me about the band was that they were very intent on developing their sound- so much so that they passed out a notepad into the crowd halfway through their set, asking for constructive criticism and praise.

The future of live music at Melbourne’s Pure Pop Records could be under threat, with owners currently in talks with Port Philip Council over noise complaints. Owner Dave Stevens says he’s had to shift live performances from the courtyard to inside the record store in the wake of fresh complaints. “Because of limited space, we're going down the solo/duo artist route,” he told M+N . “We hope to rectify the situation very soon and be back.” Stevens has been running gigs in the courtyard of his store – previously known as Raoul Records on Barkly Street in ...

  • Enola Fall + Pixelated Pirates - Candy's Apa ..
Pixelated Pirates are the visual and aural example of “nerd rock”. While their tinkering with technology and twanging of guitars were well managed, it is their vocal abilities that are lacking. They have some catchy riffs and a few nice stage moves, though largely underwhelming and engaging in their delivery. read more

Joe Nutall is a unique individual. He handles myriad instruments on this album including his oft used mandolin. His vocals on the album are wide ranging and that is typical for Nutall.
