The Dead Leaves / Enola Fall / The Otchkies ..The Joynt - Fri Mar 9 The bohemian hipsters of The Otchkies seem perfectly at home in the unpretentious stylings of The Joynt. Despite attracting a more-than-modest crowd the relaxed stoner persona they adopt isn’t very engaging, and as a result the performance is mostly unmoving. Fusing a quiet country twang to more in-your-face rock riffs and screeching vocal outbursts, their resemblance to early Doors (think Soul Kitchen) is uncanny. Enola Fall ‘Andromeda’I saw Tasmanian band Fall">Enola Fall open for The Jezabels more than a year ago. They played a really enjoyable set full of keyboard-driven rock music, structured around lead singer Joe Nuttall's brilliant falsetto. News: More Venue Woes: Pure Pop, The Excelsi ..The future of live music at Melbourne’s Pure Pop Records could be under threat, with owners currently in talks with Port Philip Council over noise complaints. Owner Dave Stevens says he’s had to shift live performances from the courtyard to inside the record store in the wake of fresh complaints. “Because of limited space, we're going down the solo/duo artist route,” he told M+N . “We hope to rectify the situation very soon and be back.” Stevens has been running gigs in the courtyard of his store – previously known as Raoul Records on Barkly Street in ...Mess and Noise22 February 2011
