Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Sounds like: Radiohead, OP Swamp 81 Song: CLOUDEATER - The Dive [download here ] What's so good? CLOUDEATER broke onto the scene in 2009, rising from depths of Atlanta’s musical underground to open for big names like N.E.R.D. and Girl Talk. Well, fast forward a little bit and the five-piece band have an LP, Sun and Sidearm , to their name and a sound that cuts through the bullshit. Take “The Dive” for example, a lesser-hyped track from the LP. The first listen caught my attention, but it was not until the fourth ...

As someone who feels it has been a little too quiet living on the eastern coast of Scotland, I was excited to dive into the local music scene. We Were Promised Jetpacks is first on my review list of Scottish bands, which almost seems ridiculous given the lively, local, indie scene. Having kicked off the [...]

  • Diiv - How Long Have You Known
Following the success of recent singles "Sometime", "Doused" , and "How Long Have You Known?" (All three earned Best New Track from Pitchfork) you may be asking yourself, what kind of drugs do I need to take to make music that good? Is it really that magical ratio of one part THC and two parts MDMA? Well, the music video for "How Long Have You Known?" intricately details the making of that special drug. Just don't try this at home kiddos. Watch the Cole play mad scientist in their video for "How Long Have You Known?"

  • Week in Pop: House Shoes, Tom Kitty Oliver, ..
Summer is about here and everyone is making big cross-overs to celebrate. Snoop Dogg threw the opening pitch for a White Sox/Twins game, The National has composed songs for HBO's Game of Thrones and Prince Charles of Wales played DJ for a minute and spinned some chill beats as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in Toronto. Fascinating and all, but a bigger game awaits as we dive into this week's tracks, videos and players of interest, in no particular order. Phédre is comi...

  • Video: DIIV - "How Long Have You Known?"
The more I listen to Brooklyn's DIIV , the more I like what I hear.  There's nothing particularly innovative about their music; they're basically just another indie guitar-pop band.  But, they write good songs with an easy-going, summer vibe, and they are very tight as a band.  "How Long Have You Known?" is an especially good song by them and now it has a fun little video to go with it.  In the video, guitarist and singer Zachary Cole Harris is putting random objects into a blender.  Actually, the insides of random objects.  And what does he do ...

This song is completely different from the other two on their page. Like it's a different band. I don't get it. I love this melody. The other two tracks just seem generic.
