Chi Cheng (Deftones) continues on road to re ..After four years in a coma, Deftones bassist Chi Cheng has begun to show some promising progress. While he remains semi-concious, he has begun responding to outside stimuli and is able to move his legs when asked. Cheng was seriously injured in November 2008 after a severe crash in Santa Clara, California. Cheng has been opening his eyes and responding to his surrounding for some time but still cannot respond verbally. Chi Cheng Improving: Deftones Bassist Raises ..Filed under: News Gary Livingston, Getty Images After more than three years in a coma, Deftones bassist Chi Cheng is beginning to show signs of improvement , Loudwire.com reports. Cheng has been conscious or semi-conscious since November 2008, when he was involved in a car accident that left him in critical condition and necessitated life-threatening surgery. Now, he's able to respond to stimuli, lift his leg and "communicate with basic sounds," according to the site.
