  • REVIEW: The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Metro ..
I went to another gig with my mother. There. I said it. I like that my family- mother, father, brothers, possible future in-law can all go watch acts like Deerhunter and THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE. It’s fucking great.  Yes. Last Thursday, the boyfriend and I ventured into the Sydney CBD to taste the tantalising shoegaze goodness [...]

  • Atlas Sound, mercredi 6 juin
Sur Let the blind… Cox mélange les instruments rock tels que harpe, voix languissante, pour [...]

In early 2010, Spoon played New York's Radio City Music Hall with openers Deerhunter and Strange Boys. As YouTube footage records for posterity, Wolf Parade's Dan Boeckner joined the Austin indie rockers on stage, helping out on Spoon's "I Saw the Light" and leading a howling

  • REVIEW: Lower Dens - "Nootropics"
Lower Dens - Nootropics Record Label - Ribbon Music Release Date - May 1st, 2012 Some years ago, when Silver Jews frontman Dave Berman called Radiohead " gray ," it's hard to think that he didn't have another band and another album in mind.   Nootropics , the second release from Jana Hunter fronted Lower Dens, slow-churns its way through your speakers like a psychedelic sci-fi iceberg.  It is, unabashedly, gray. The title originates from smart drugs (natural or otherwise) which improve brain function.  While this album doesn't appear (from quite a few listens) to be the indie equivalent of Baby Mozart, what makes ...

Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Sounds like: Wild Nothing, Twin Sister, Deerhunter Song: Beach House - The Hours [download here ] What's so good? It’s always quite distressing when artists debut a new album, especially when their former releases was such a success. Can they live up to the hype? Do they sound completely different? Have they sold out? These are questions music critics and fans always ask themselves in reaction and response to what they hear but rarely does an album spark fresh intrigue and nostalgia at the same time. With the triumph of Teen Dream under their belts ...

  • Pastoral Pastiche Pop Amongst The Nomadic Fi ..
The solo warped outpourings of Tennessee's Ryan Boos, Nomadic Firs' self-titled record is something of a anomaly in that it had been gestating for six years, is a pastiche of colours and ideas that have coalesced into finite songs, and yet is cohesive much farther beyond what is thought possible from such an amalgam of sounds and grooves. Reminiscent of the breakout hazy debut album by Unknown Mortal Orchestra (especially on 'Vines'). There is a rustic underbelly to these jams that echoes from Boos' rustic life (he owns a petite farm with his wife), and it is these pastoral ...

  • Live Review: Leader Cheetah + Steering By St ..
Adelaide’s Leader Cheetah are heading back into writing mode for a follow-up record their sophomore album Lotus Skies , but not before playing a run of final headline shows for the year. Kicking the tour off in their hometown at Jive, the band had advertised a night of fun and surprises, with classic LC songs to be churned out, as well as a hint of what we can be expecting from the band as they head into Album Three territory. The stigma Jive tends to have over its head, is that nobody really likes to turn up there before 9pm ...

  • Exposure: Michael A Grammar
Exposure is our scrapbook of our favourite new bands. Today's exposure features Nottingham-based Shoegaze quartet Michael A Grammar. Name : Michael A Grammar Location : Nottingham, UK Genre : Shoegaze For Fans of : Deerhunter, The Verve Website : Facebook Michael A Grammar prove that talk of 'the Death of British Guitar Bands' is (of course) unfounded. Their debut EP released on Melodic Records, is a state of intent for their intense, raw shoegaze sound.

Collective">Animal Collective have just released a new song “Gotham,” which will come as part of a new 7″ single titled Honeycomb / Gotham . • Lotus Plaza Grows Outward At A Distance
There isn't much that comes out of the Deerhunter collective's stable that I am not a fan of, and whilst it's Bradford Cox's antics that gain most of the attention, the rest aren't laying idle either. Guitarist Lockett Pundt's output as Lotus Plaza is nothing to be sneezed at, and on latest LP Spooky Action At A Distance he truly comes into his own. Sure, tracks such as 'Strangers' don't stray too far from the DH format of shimmering sunny psych shoegaze (hope you can pronounce your s's - that phrase is a ...
