Forgotten Gems: R.U. Deadly-Various Demos ..This particular Forgotten Gem is going to be a little different. For one thing Salem, Ohio's R.U. Deadly were never able to secure a record contract. The band, which was active from 1987 to 1998, released three demos ("Burial at Sea" in 1990, "Into the Light" in 1992 and "R.U. Deadly" in 1995) and shared the stage with such acts as Manowar, LA Guns, Bruce Dickinson (solo tour), Chastain, Blue Oyster Cult, Slaughter, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Noisy Mama, and Pat Travers. Sadly, I have kind of left the genre at the nearest rest stop, and moved on. I needed a band to pump the energy back into me: Somebody to make me fall in love with it all over again. Kent’s Magnets is that answer. Gorgeous, airy arrangements that settle deep in to your system, before any action is taken place. In Cages - Self-Titled CD EP Review (Modern ..DOWNLOAD : In Cages - "Dirty Water" (Requires email) In Cages is a new quartet based out of Hillsdale, NJ and the band’s self-titled debut EP (which drops June 23rd) is a solid slab of 90’s post-grunge “modern rock”. The four tracks (13 minutes) on this disc are melodic, guitar-driven numbers that bear more than a passing resemblance to bands like Fuel and Hinder crossed with the melodic hooks of the Foo Fighters.
