  • Feist @ Enmore Theatre
Yes, we loved every single second of it. It was all quite spectacularly superb. From the delightful melodies to the rock out moments. From the times were held our breath to the feeling of being as one. Feist lit up the Enmore Theatre Tuesday night in a way few performers can. She is so engaging, so charming, so talented. Love. For just on two hours Feist proved that she is one extremely talented and unique performer. Such a personable one too, she had us at hello you could most possibly say. As the booming "Undiscovered First" rang out across the ...

  • Sydney Laneway Festival 2012
After a month of pretty ordinary unsummery weather Sydney turned on an absolute cracker of a day for Laneway Festival 2012 . Thankfully the music matched the weather. There were highlights, and clashes, through out the day but I managed to see all acts I really wanted to see. The 2012 edition seemed to have the electronic/chillwave thing going on pretty well. Mostly that's not my cup of tea but I found plenty to keep me entertained through out the day. Austra would prove the great discovery of the day, whilst EMA absolutely killed it in an early set ...

  • [Listen] Dad Rocks!- Weapons
by teepoo Dad Rocks! is fronted by Icelandic musician Snævar Njáll Albertsson, which I have no idea how to pronounce. Don’t worry his music is perfectly understandable and Weapons features Charles Spearin of Broken Social Scene. His album Mount Modern is chocked full of fun songs and hilarious lyrics if you listen closely. Dad Rocks!- [...]

While the Toronto International Film Festival occupied most of my time during the period of September 8 to the 18, I'd consciously took Septemeber 10 off in order to check out a arts and music festival called Supercrawl in Hamilton, ON. I'd heard of the festival for a few years now and had hopes of going but it didn't happen, but when I'd seen the musical lineup this year which included amongst others, Broken Social Scene, J Mascis, Plants and Animals and Basia Bulat performing with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra , I made up my mind quick ...

K.C. Accidental reissue LP, stream "Residential Love Song" Before there was Broken Social Scene, there was K.C. Accidental . The lo-fi bedroom recordings of Broken Social Scene’s founder/vocalist/guitarist Kevin Drew and multi-instrumentalist/studio mastermind Charles Spearin lead to two self-released LP’s made in the late 90’s: " Captured Anthems For An Empty Bathtub " and " Anthems For The Could’ve Bin Pills ". Because they were released in limited numbers on Noise Factory Records, traded amongst friends and hidden in the pockets of Toronto’s independent record stores, these two records have been out of print for ...

There's one heck of a body of work that lays behind the boys and girls from Broken Social Scene.  Years of work and countless bands helped form the collective into the indie rock force it's become. One of these bands was KC Accidental, the name under which future BSS mainstays Kevin Drew and Charles Spearin released a pair of EPs.  These very limited EPs have now been collected and re-released

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive Before Broken Social Scene broke away from the confines of Toronto to become worldwide rock sensations, founder Kevin Drew recorded two albums under the moniker K.C. Accidental . Alongside fellow BSS member Charles Spearin, Drew laid the groundwork for what would eventually morph into the indie collective as we know it today. Once long out of print, those first two albums are getting the reissue treatment this week, bundled in one package as 'Captured Anthems for an Empty Bathtub + Anthems for the Could've Bin Pills.' Drew met Spearin at an art school in ...

09/29/10 3:01pm by CHARTattack Staff (CHARTattack) Broken Social Scene recently shot an episode of children's TV show Yo Gabba Gabba! in Burlington, Vt. to take a break from touring. But that wasn't their only foray into the bizarro world of DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Plex, Brobee, Toodee and Foofa. The band also showed up at one of Yo Gabba Gabba! 's special live shows to help the cast of the show do the Peanut Butter stomp, and you can see Kevin Drew (who likely hallucinates creatures just like Brobee regularly), Brandon Canning, Charles Spearin and ...

  • KC Accidental Collection Confirmed
A new collection of recordings from hugely influential Canadian group KC Accidental have been confirmed. In the space of a decade, Canadian music has pulled itself out of obscurity and onto the main stage. Sure, the nation always boasted superb songwriters but now the area is surrounded by a halo of indie cool. Perhaps more so than any other single group, Broken Social Scene have worked towards this. Through their own work and their label Arts & Crafts the band have released some stunning material. Now the roots of Broken Social Scene are set to be explored on a new compilation ...
