This week the nominations for the 82nd Academy Awards were handed out in L.A. in advance of the March 7th award show. With ten nominations for Best Picture this year and all but locked up races for the Best Acting awards it was difficult to be too upset with all the nominations. Last night, at the 67th Golden Globe Awards, the winner for Best Original Score in a Motion Picture was Michael Giacchino in Up. Giacchino beat out Karen O and Carter Burwell’s Where The Wild Things Are Soundtrack. The nominees for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture included big names like U2 (for “Winter” in Brothers ) and Paul McCartney (for “I Want to Come Home” in Everybody’s Fine ), but when all was said and done, “The Weary Kind” (theme from Crazy Heart ) by Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett, took home the Golden Globe.
