They’re called Lucius and they are giving me goosebumps. The band’s story is an interesting one, to say the least. They moved into an old Victorian home in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. Unbeknownst to them, that 4-story home was a recording studio and music school some 60 years ago. Talk about a hidden gem! So naturally, the band nursed their passions and recorded their first EP there using many of the abandoned instruments. This particular video is for their single, “Go Home.” It was recorded in Suite 268 which is at the Indaba Loft at the Bowery in NYC, and it really doesn’t get any more intimate than this. Lucius starts off the video soft and reserved, leaving room for quite the build up. This song is a deeply moving ballad of sorts and the timing is impeccable. “Go Home” starts with a simple down tempo doo-wop beat, a softly plucked guitar and gorgeous harmonies. These ladies are a cut above the rest. Then in come the slide guitar, adding heart-wrenchingly chords that’ll sure to tug at your heart strings. By the time the chorus comes around, these women are belting out their brutally honest convictions and no, they will not be ignored. It’s impossible not to feel moved by this song and to see it performed live with such exquisiteness is truly impressive. This is a timeless piece of music that will withstand the test of time.
