  • Live Video: Barry Adamson
Even if you’re not familiar with his solo work, you’re sure to know some of the seminal 70′s and 80′s art/punk bands Barry Adamson has been part of during his career: Magazine, Buzzcocks, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Iggy Pop, and The Gun Club. Going on 35 years, Adamson’s storied career features as wide Read more...

  • Win tickets to FIB, Benicassim Festival
Benicassim Festival 2012 is only a Happy Monday or a Gallagher brother short of being a Manchester special. Recently reformed headliners New Order and The Stone Roses are joined at this 4 day music festival by fellow Mancunian’s Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and the Buzzcocks in a line-up that also includes Florence + The [...]

  • Royal Headache

  • Camden Crawl 2012 // The 405 Review
Photography by Tim Boddy I was somewhere in the midst of Camden, on the edge of a lock, when the rum began to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded, maybe we should go and see some folk music…" and suddenly there was a terrible roar all around and a wall of noise, swooping and screeching and diving, was blaring forth a nightmare post-punk ruckus. And a voice was screaming, "Holy Jesus! Who are these goddamn animals?" These animals were Toronto-based trio Odonis Odonis , a guttural temple punch that may have not been the most ...

  • Rebel, then have a rest
In a fine example of irony, a host of punk bands will perform at an anti-royal Jubilee event...to raise money for a royal charity. The three-day festival features an original Sex Pistol – Glen Matlock – and a host of punk survivors including The Damned, The Buzzcocks, UK Subs, The Vibrators and The stranglers' Hugh Cornwell, and will raise money for a swag of charitable causes, including one with princess Anne as patron. So will the 5,000 strong audience of ageing punks rebel against the cause? Promoter Jeremy Selleck thinks not: "It's a chance to revisit the days of ...

  • Dr. Dog (and Monsanto) at Cal Day 4/21/12…… ..
It was the most beautiful day of the year; clear, sunny and warm. Dr. Dog played a great free show in front of the University Library on UC Berkeley’s Memorial Glade as part of its annual Cal Day. They rocked through the catalog including multiple numbers from my favorite records We All Belong and Fate. [...]

I’m going to keep this one short, but I’ve been on a real Buzzcocks kick lately, and can’t stop listening to their compilation album Singles Going Steady.  Even though they never achieved the same amount of fame as other 70s contemporaries such as The Ramones or The Clash, The Buzzcocks were just as important in [...]

  • The Devil's Round Up 29th April 2012
This week's round up of the tracks I haven't had the space to post... Pettybone From: London, Czech Republic, Germany, Cornwall. Pettybone are what Riot Grrrls sound like when they grow up. Go Try   Pettybone by Pettybone Maker From: Brighton, United Kingdom From Riot Grrrls to quiet girls. Missing from the melodious Brighton pop band Maker starts out sweeter than a sugar coated Care Bear before building and building into a multi layered anthem to making the most of your opportunities before they're gone (I think!).    Go Try   Missing by Makertheband Useless Eaters From: Memphis, United States ...

  • Buzzcocks reunited
Punk pioneers The Buzzcocks will reunite on stage with founding member Howard Devoto for the first time in 35 years. DeVoto quit in 1977 to form Magazine, but thinks the reunion will be "a blast" adding "Will it be a strict four songs and off? We'll see". The reunion is currently limited to two shows in Manchester and London on May 25 and 26. Source Link:  Anti Music Attached Image(s):  The Buzzcocks 2009
