[Faves] My Favorite Music of 2011Just about every comment I've read on the passing of 2011 boiled down to "good riddance". Not too shocking, since the internet was built for complaining after all (also - more than a few friends really were struggling), but I'm both surprised and very grateful to state that mine wasn't all that bad. [Last Night's Playlist] New Music Night at R ..Felt ridiculously good to get back up in the River Gods DJ booth last night, especially with Jay from Clicky Clicky as my co-pilot. Trading hour-long slots, we hosted what will hopefully be the first of many "New Music Nights" , playing nuthin' but recently-released (and some not-yet-released) songs from a mix of local and national bands. Best part about it (aside from forcing people to listen to my personal faves) was getting to sit at the bar and listen while Jay spun his ace selections. Brown RecluseHace unos días os anunciábamos novedades del sello Slumberlad Records , con la publicación del álbum de debut de Irene">Brave Irene, pues bien, no dejamos este sello, ya que el grupo que hoy nos ocupa publicaba el pasado mes de marzo su álbum de debut "Evening Tapestry". Se llaman Brown Recluse, son un sexteto de Philadelphia a los que ya dedicamos unas líneas con motivo de su anterior Ep, "The Soft Skin". Brave IreneEn marzo del presente año se ponía a la venta, a través del sello discográfico Slumberland Records , el disco homónimo de Irene">Brave Irene, nuevo proyecto musical de la maravillosa Rose Melberg a quien recordamos por sus inicios en los ruidosos Tiger Trap pero especialmente por su faceta más delicada y angelical al frente de The Softies. En este nuevo disco se funden las dos vertientes anteriores, encontrándonos con suaves baladas como "Bank Holiday" o piezas mucho más rítmicas y pegadizas, como "No Fun".
