  • Watch: Binary – Modern Man
Watch the brand new video for 'Modern Man', Binary's latest single set for release on 4 June via Echoplex. The track was mixed by Sean Beavan (NIN/Marilyn Manson), so expect a clusterfuck of industrial thrusts and wall of sound noise.

  • Music Review: Addison Groove - Transistor Rh ..
Addison Groove Transistor Rhythm [50 Weapons; 2012] by Ian Latta Rating: It’s now two years since DJ Nate signed to Planet Mu and thrust footwork music from Chicago to the global dancefloor, and a whole year, even, since DJ Earl remixed the All Things Considered theme . Several months ago, DJ Diamond and DJ Rashad placed high on TMT’s 2011 year-end list , but footwork music remains resolutely difficult, its fierce resistance to depth and, at times, groove still incredibly challenging to the ears. In an effort to interpret this perplexing sound, almost every critic writing on the subject of ...

  • The 405 Film Digest: 7th May
Hi hi. Welcome back to The 405 Film Digest, in the week that most of you finally got to go see Avengers Assemble and swell its frankly super box office success, the week in which the majority of my Twitter timeline filled up with Homeland-finale excitement followed by glee and the subsequent post-season depression, and the week in which all manner of political controversy riled up the populace so much that a great swathe of London couldn't even face the stress of the polling booths. Anyway, read on for Jake's great feature centred around the recent Oldboy casting ...

Laurel Halo has stripped the beach like heat from Brian Simon's (Anenon) 'This Is What I Meant' - leaving behind a track full of intergalactic internal struggles: binary code vs. binary code, if you will. In some ways this is the nightmarish version of the original, but without the thrill of running away from a zombie (or whatever it is that haunts you at night). Still, it's Laurel Halo, and thus the quality rarely dips below good. The original is taken from his debut album, Inner Hue , which is out now.

  • No Place like Rhizome
There’s no thinning at the front or diminishing presence in the surface of Pascal Savy ’s Receding , despite the title, and for all the fancy philo-: Savy speaks of  'some psychological and existential questions which I try to convey below the surface of music,' which is all fine and chin-strokingly brow-furrowingly dandy, but is there not perhaps a hint of more to hum in the bathtub than previously? Last there was Liminal (view from here elsew here ), before there was Fragments , before that The Silent Watcher . Now, Twisted Tree Line , 3” CD-r + postcard ltd. ed. series sister to Somehow ...

  • The Doppelganger Trilogy
You Lost Me - Sleigh Bells (mp3) Meltdown - Ash (mp3) Who are we? Whom do we trust and why? Where do we turn in a crisis? Do we know our own core essence? Do we even have a core essence? Over the course of six years, director John Carpenter made one of the most thought-provoking B-movie trilogies of modern cinema: The Doppelganger Trilogy . Few people know this because I just made it up. It wasn’t an official trilogy. And B-movies are, by general definition, rarely thought-provoking. If the name John Carpenter seems familiar, yet you can’t quite place it ...
