Baths

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

For mercurial Los Angeles music-maker Will Wiesenfeld, Baths has been a long time coming. Wiesenfeld has gainfully explored the intersections and outer reaches of both electronic and acoustic music. With Baths, his eclecticism finds its greatest focus yet, in a hail of lush melodies,... Read More

  • Strangely Transfixed By Royal Baths
I'm still not wholeheartedly convinced that I like Royal Baths . I mean, the Brooklyn-via-San Francisco band tick the right boxes - dark, brooding, garage based tendencies, drone tinged rock, a love of Spacemen 3... Yet I can't quite get them. Whether it's because I think/thought they're style over substance, or that they are/were a little over-hyped, I'm not sure. I wasn't enamoured with their debut Litanies (on Woodsist ), but I listened to it quite a bit anyway. Weird. I'm equally flummoxed by how much I'm enjoying them right now. I find ...

This Monday I took to DIY Radio  to play 30 of my favourite mp3 finds from the past two weeks. These are often the tracks I don’t have time to share with you all on the blog - either that, or they’re a little too big to count as ‘new music’ when it comes to MFM’s strict, ridiculous standards.  Here’s the tracklist: Summerays - Toyohashi Sleigh Bells - Comeback Kid Royal Baths - Faster, Harder Swiss alps - Little Dipper Parakeet - Tomorrow Decks - Ghost Girl Lower Dens - Brains Galapagos - I Am My Love Pictureplane - Real Is A Feeling (Grimes Remix) Lapalux ...

  • HOUSE REAL BIG: Daphne Guinness No Longer Wa ..
After drenching her neighbors in an accidental flood back in 2010 and landing in a million dollar lawsuit, Daphne Guinness is ready to give up her digs at 995 Fifth Avenue. The beer heiress/artist/designer/socialite has listed the 4,118-square-foot apartment for a whopping $14 million and like a scene from our wildest dreams; the photos for the listing are pulled directly from the pages of Architectural Digest Magazine. PHOTOS: Daphne Guinness Couture Exhibition At FIT Daphene, however, is not responsible for outfitting the apartment’s décor in the chic digs, designer Daniel Romualdez is the guy to ...

  • ♫ Listen: Sun Glitters - "It Takes Me"
It’s a refreshing surprise when an artist manages to find a pseudonym that actually befits their music. When christening and content fall in line, it becomes clear that the artist making the music isn’t doing it accidentally, but actually has an inkling or vision. For us listeners, such sure-footedness earns our faith. Sure, there’s a certain appeal in the absolutely oblivious artistic “genius,” who supposedly produces out of feeling and drive , unburdened by self-conscious demons, pretentious theses, and grand plans. But then again, there’s something indelibly honest when the artist knowingly and unabashedly tells us their ...

  • MP3: Royal Baths
San Francisco garage rockers Royal Baths are trying to cash in on this potential garage resurgence with their sophomore LP, Better Luck Next Life. There's definitely a bluesy but raw grunge sound here on the track "Faster, Harder" and Royal Baths have officially entered our radar.

  • Royal Baths – “Faster, Harder”
Royal Baths, a band from San Francisco’s ridiculously fertile psych-rock scene, are gearing up to release their new album Better Luck Next Life. We’ve already posted their song “Darling Divine.” And below, we’ve got another one: “Faster, Harder,” a deep fuzz-groove that somehow does not sample Daft Punk. • Royal Baths(@TheRoyalBaths) – Black Sheep ..
Brooklyn, NY Royal Baths. This is the type of music people will needlessly come up with a ton of comparisons for. Why? I say listen to its dark, primal, loudly, infested psychedelic, punk, screeching garage sounds and come up with your own adjectives, your own comparisons. Let the music breath on its own. I have [...]
