News: Abercrombie Sustains ‘Significant Dama ..Sydney’s re-opened Ambercrombie Hotel – the former home of popular indie club night Purple Sneakers – has sustained “significant damage” after a fire this morning. According to reports in The SMH , emergency services were called to the pub around 2.40am, arriving to find the ground floor ablaze, with smoke and water damage to the upper levels. The fire is believed to be suspicious. The Abercrombie – located on the corner of Broadway and Abercrombie Streets, Chippendale – closed down in 2009, pending a re-development to the brewery next door.
