  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD full soundtrack re ..
The high anticipated soundtrack to the HD reissues of the classic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games has been revealed. Ken Overbey, the project manager on the new games explained the challenges in a recent interview : We definitely wanted to bring back some of the songs from the original soundtrack, but wanted new songs as well. • Listen: (A Really, Really) Comprehensive Ant ..
Whoever Brian Stefan is, thank you. So here’s the distillation of my “post-punk” anthology of Southern California bands. I’m having a hard time finding a truly accurate title for the comp, since many of the bands are from the county but from places with very particular scenes, like Pasadena and Long Beach, and a few are from outside of the city altogether (but within a two-hour drive). And to call these “post-punk” bands is not entirely accurate; many of them are “new wave,” “darkwave,” “deathrock,” “art rock,” even something like “freak folk.” Oh well. We strongly recommend reading ...

Punk Roxx Records / Thumper Punk Records 2012 Jump Ship Quick are a Colorado based punk rock band featuring former members of Focused and Ultimatum. Their debut album, "Where Thieves Cannot Tread", was produced by Five Iron Frenzy saxophonist “Jeff the Girl” (aka Leanor Inez Ortega Till) and mixed and mastered by Masaki Liu (Five Iron Frenzy, Rebel Motorcycle Club">Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Echoing Green and The W’s). While the promo suggests bands like NOFX (sure) and The Crucified (really?) it's more likely you'll hear bits and pieces of bands like 7 Seconds, The Ramones, S ...

After several months , some more news has finally surfaced about the comic book distribution company being launched by Epitaph Records ' Brett Gurewitz and 30 Days of Night creator (and former Gray Matter guitarist) Steven Niles . They recruited Halo-8 creator Matt Pizzolo to help launch the company now called Black Mask Studios . We're going to open new space outside the entrenched market where we can cultivate more ...

  • Eateries and Watering Holes: Anchor Grill ..
Descendents : Anchor Grill [ purchase ] Punk rock is not supposed to be about subtlety or maturity. It is not supposed to be about grownups and their problems. It is supposed to be about youth, and anger, and simplicity. But it isn’t always that easy. Descendents started off as a more traditional punk (or pop punk) band--fast, loud and with songs that focused on simple themes, often with goofy humor, although their music was somewhat more melodic than many other “hardcore” bands of the era. But the band evolved over the years, often taking long breaks while lead singer Milo Aukerman ...

A week after his long awaited punk documentary One Nine Nine Four unceremoniously leaked to YouTube, director Jai Al-Attas has posted a blog posting talking about the evolution and creation of the film on his blog. So we were made aware last week that our documentary has leaked onto the internet. This has provided Matt and I(Jai) with mixed feelings; on one side it's potentially a missed opportunity to have it released officially & never make back our investment but on the other it seems to be really striking a chord with people and that's what we always ...
