  • Video: State Intervention#1 – And So I Watch ..
On a Friday last month, State asked ASIWYFA to play a short set in the Musicmaker shop in Dublin during the day. We only announced it via Twitter and Facebook. It was the first in our hopefully long-running video series of pop-up gigs called State Intervention. We’ve got some super special guests lined up in [...]

  • Hinterland Review
Yeah, it's taken me a couple of days to get back round to Hinterland, but it was a busy weekend. Sunday had a hangover that had to be shaken off, and an intimate gig by And So I Watch You From Afar to attend - curiously enough those noisy Northern Irish buggers were a better hangover cure than I ... — full article at ayetunes.blogspot.com

  • And So I Watch You From Afar - The Voiceless ..
While I am a bit suss about the unflagging reverence bestowed upon this Northern act I’ve got to admit that they do have their moments. And ‘The Voiceless’ is certainly one of them; despite unashamedly playing the Explosions In The Sky card it has all the hallmarks of a post-rock classic. The guitars are chimed to within an inch of their life and the percussion is utterly sublime throughout. So much so that its 6 and a half minutes pass by in a blink. The best thing though is that there is no moment where the guitars instantly turn ...

  • Ripple News - Exploding in Sound Releases Fi ..
Over the years of Rippling we've met tons of cool people who's work we just have the utmost respect for.  Exploding in Sound is one of those.  Exploding in Sound is a website/blog created by Dan Goldin with the sole purpose of promoting and spreading great rock music.  GLORIOUS NOISE is the “must listen” fifth release in an ongoing compilation series aimed at breaking new artists and gaining exposure.  The first four, including December’s Circulatory System and the ever popular Future Legendary have been met with critical praise and wide spread acclaim.  As someone who owns ...

  • And So I Watch You From Afar – The Voiceless ..
I really don’t like instrumental songs by and large.  I have nothing in particular against them, but they just don’t tend to be my cup of tea.  To me, 90% of my music enjoyment comes from the words, both lyrically and vocally.  So to take that out is to take out the most interesting part [...] A note for RSS readers: All content from Another Form of Relief is available to read through RSS. • SXSW Review: And So I Watch You From Afar @ ..
Hailing from Belfast, Ireland, And So I Watch You From Afar (ASIWYFA, for short) created utter musical devastation at Friends Bar for SXSW last night. They not only pulled in a venue-filling crowd, but also drew countless passersby to the venue’s windows to catch a glimpse of who was manufacturing this chaotic, layered, instrumental bliss. The [...]

  • A Bit Of Banter At SXSW
Banter Artists at SXSW It's that time of year again and the Devil's inbox is full of invites to shows at SXSW. Unfortunately no-one ever offers to throw in the plane fair and cover the hotel bills so instead I have to make do with creating a playlist of the bands that are playing and have my own mini SXSW in my living room! For those of you who, like me, are missing out on all the fun here are a few MP3s from Banter Media artists who are playing in Austin next week so you can close ...

  • Album Review: Secondskin - Captive Audience ..
With post- and prog-rock’s fanbase gaining steady momentum thanks to the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar and Explosions In The Sky (whose music can currently be heard on BBC Four documentaries practically every single night), a new breed “experimental” bands, ranging from the good, to the bad, and the downright sonically ugly have flooded the UK, and despite their apparent ten year life span, Glasgow’s Secondskin have released their debut album at the perfect time to ride the crest of this wave. “ Captive Audience ” combines the subtleties and textures of post-rock with elements of ...

  • And So I Watch You From Afar - Neue Post-Roc ..

  • Canadian Musicfest Picks (March 10-11, 2010) ..
It's that time of year again, Canadian Music Week , and of course the music portion, last year inaugurally dubbed Canadian Musicfest , is the part I'm looking forward to the most. While Toronto's other major multi-venue, citywide music industry festival NXNE which takes hold of the city every June has upped the ante in recent years with buzzier bands and bigger draw acts(as well of course, a lot of unknowns), Canadian Music Week has remained for the most part, focused on mostly unknown acts. Frustrating to some, but I do enjoy the process of reading the artist ...
