  • Alog present new live album/Manga "Tokio Hea ..
Alog picked up a small stack of cardboard sleeves on their way through Portland, OR and, after pondering awhile what to do with them, finally settled on making them into covers for a new live album. However, they did not settle for a standard cover design -- instead they enlisted Japanese Manga artist Junko Harada to do a 50-panel strip, one for each edition of the record. See the result here, entitled "Tokio Heaven": http://alog.net/tc/index.html

  • Introducing #137 Benjamin Finger // Intervie ..
We stumbled across Benjamin Finger a few months back during our regular internet trawls for new artists to cover. What struck us most about his style was the way he layered sounds. Take 'Vertigo Neonate' for example; you have a basic layer in the form of the acoustic guitar which drives the song, but on top of that you have a plethora of sounds jumping in and out to keep you interested. This attention to detail really is wonderful and is often lacking with artists of a similar nature. Signed to How Is Annie Records and also one half of ...

  • Hubro presents "Glossolalia"
Norwegian artist Sigbjørn Apeland, known for his collaborations with Alog and Nils Økland, has a new album out this week via Hubro Music entitled "Glossolalia" featuring solo improvisations on the harmonium. Read more: http://www.hubromusic.com/ Says the label "The term 'glossolalia' comes from the Greek 'glossa' meaning 'tongue', and 'lalia', meaning 'to speak'. To speak in tongues is to talk in unintelligible sounds in a state of religious ecstasy. The title of the album is a play on the instrument's association with low-church traditions, that the music 'came to' Apeland in an inspired moment, and that the ...

  • Offthesky – Hiding Nature (Home Normal)
With Hiding Nature Offthesky aka Jason Corder has created something very close to the spirit of Rune Gramofone, particularly their electronica faction epitomised by the likes of Phonophani and Alog. Not the most original approach, but fine company indeed. Processing and sequencing appear to be where most of Corder’s work takes place, used upon vibraphone, [...] Offthesky – Hiding Nature (Home Normal) is a post from: Cyclic Defrost Magazine .
