Seems like there was a bunch of grunge and alternative bands moving to the forefront of the scene over here. However one music event of note was taking place on the other side of the world. The Cult: "Choice of Weapon" (album review) ..Let's face it, you pretty much know what you're going to get with every new album from The Cult . They have a hard rock sound that is all their own. They've honed it over the years, but much like AC/DC there have been no real radical changes from the beginning. That should tell you most of what you need to know about their new record Choice of Weapon , but I'll go on anyway. NWOBHM WEDNESDAY:SHOCK TREATMENTOne 7" single. That was all there was to East Anglia's Shock Treatment. Even by NWOBHM standards, where hardcore collectors would beat up old ladies if it meant they could grab that one missing single they so desperately crave, this is a obscure band/single. If not for the NWOBHM ENCYCLOPEDIA I highly doubt that more than a handful of people would have even cared about this 1980 single. Released on Skull Records (?) this is one interesting 7" release that deserved a better reception than it got.
