Jonsi and Alex: Boy 1904
Jonsi and Alex are Jonsi Birgisson, lead singer of Sigur Ros, and Alex Somers, his boyfriend. They've been exhibiting art together for the past two or three years under the name Riceboy Sleeps, and they have a record of the same name out July 21 on XL. Apart from a track on the Dark Was the Night compilation, "Boy 1904" is the first song made available from the album.
It has the same haunting, warm ambience that the best Sigur Ros tracks have, with a slow operatic choir of voices at its center. It also features a sample of the only known recording of the last castrato, which adds a strange feeling of antiquity (as well as making it slightly ....
